Proof not rhetoric
Tikamoon donates 1% of sales from all FSC®-certified products to the association 1% for the Planet®.
1. Urgent action for a sustainable future
Many global restrictions, including those linked to climate change and biodiversity have already been breached or are at risk.
Exceeding these limits threatens the fragile balance of our planet.
At Tikamoon, we've been convinced of this for years, which is why we've taken decisive steps to minimize our environmental impact. These include reducing raw material used in our furniture production, lowering the carbon footprint of our transport operations, and expanding our range of FSC®-certified products to promote sustainable sourcing.
To avoid serious consequences, it's essential that we adopt environmentally friendly practices, promote the conservation of ecosystems and rethink our consumption patterns. Our commitment extends to creating long-lasting furniture designed to last 100 years. By using solid wood that's easy to repair, we encourage a "buy less often" mindset.
We know we're not perfect, but we're doing everything we can to preserve a healthier planet for current and future generations.
2. Tikagreen: our sustainable development strategy
At Tikamoon, we believe companies must lead by example. The future of our planet depends on collective action. In 2021, we joined the Convention des Entreprises pour le Climat (Businesses for Climate Convention), a major initiative for advancing regenerative business practices.
In line with our Tikagreen sustainable development strategy, we're implementing various projects and initiatives to reduce the impact of our business on the environment.
Launched in 2019, Tikagreen continues to evolve each year as we confront new challenges. Its focus is clear: to reduce our environmental impact while being transparent with our customers. That's why we share the results of our Product Life Cycle Analyses and provide an eco-note — an in-house rating system based on six criteria, to help our customers compare products and make informed, eco-conscious choices.
With our commitment to 1% for the Planet® on our range of FSC®-certified products, we're not just adding a seventh criterion to the four-leaf eco-ratings. We're also showing that 1% of our sales linked to this product is a force for good donated to a forest conservation and restoration project.
3. Fulfilling our commitments and contributing to a collective effort to protect the environment
In addition to these actions, we've long been committed to donating products rather than discarding them, whenever possible. For example, we've partnered with the Banque Solidaire de L'Equipement, an initiative run by Emmaus Défi for many years.
We also make financial contributions to organizations like the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), as part of our membership in the Club Entreprendre pour la Planète. Through this partnership, we support a number of WWF's conservation projects.
That's why, as part of our ongoing initiatives, we're committed to donating 1% of sales from our FSC®-certified products to environmental protection and restoration projects, starting April 1, 2024. In line with our value chain, we support projects dedicated to protecting and restoring forest ecosystems.
We're proud to stand behind the values of 1% for the Planet® and to be part of a dedicated group of companies and individuals working toward a more sustainable world.
This commitment reflects our vision: "Proof not rhetoric". We invite you to join 1% for the Planet® and play an active role in driving the change needed for a more sustainable future.
4. What is 1% for the Planet®?
1% for the Planet® is a non-profit organization launched in 2002 in the United States by Yvon Chouinard, founder and owner of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, former owner of Blue Ribbon Flies.
The mission of 1% for the Planet® is to amplify environmental philanthropy by making it easier for environmental protection organizations to secure funding and increase the impact of their work.
By embracing the philosophy of 1% for the Planet®, members of this unique alliance actively contribute to building a more sustainable future. Each participant becomes an agent of change, demonstrating meaningful social and environmental responsibility. The funds raised support a wide range of causes, from the conservation of natural ecosystems to the promotion of renewable energy.
